Rome
    Ciampino Airport

    location
Ciampino Airport is about 15 km from the centre of Rome.
Our bus (from 8.45) drove in 30 minutes to the airport.
However if there is more traffic, the journey can take considerably more time. The Ryanair/Terravision bus departs from Via Marsala, right behind the bus station at Termini.

Ciampino is a small airport with many budget airlines such as: Ryanair, EasyJet, Air Berlin, Thomsonfly, Transavia, V Bird and Helvetic. The official website of Ciampino Airport is Aeroporti di Roma

    check-in
The hall with the check-in is small but our (Ryanair)check-inn started more than 2 hours before departure.(11.55)
There were no long queues in the hall. Security control was also fast. Passengers with only hand luggage who checked in online, can walk straight to the security control.

    departure hall
In the departure hall are a three areas.
The common area with some shops and bakery and two areas for the flight departures.

Flights to the non-Schengen countries (United Kingdom, Ireland and East Europe) must pass the passport control.
Immediately behind the passport control is the area with gates 1-11. Because most flights that morning were departing to the UK, this area was usually crowded. On the picture below - on the background -, is the area with gates 1-11 behind the wall of glass. To read some passenger opinions on Ciampino or to post your own one: AirlineQuality

Flights to Eindhoven, Paris and Copenhagen were in the other (not-separated) area, gates 12-22. In our waiting hall was more space for less people. There are no facilities but the waiting was relaxed (picture to the right).
